Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to website owners.

Cookie Categories

FlickClaw uses cookies in four categories. You can manage your preferences at any time using the Cookie Settings button in the footer or the cookie banner on your first visit.

Necessary Cookies

Required for the website to function properly. These include authentication cookies for user sessions, security tokens, and CSRF protection. Without these cookies, the website cannot provide services like login, account access, or subscription management.

Preference Cookies

Remember your preferences such as theme (light/dark mode), language, and other settings. These are optional and can be disabled without affecting core functionality.

Analytics Cookies

Help us understand how visitors interact with the website by collecting aggregate, anonymized data. Analytics cookies are only activated after you give explicit consent. We may use self-hosted analytics (such as Plausible) that do not track personal data.

Advertising Cookies

Free users and anonymous visitors see non-intrusive house advertisements promoting Pro, as well as third-party ads via Google AdSense (publisher ID: ca-pub-4932643710484609). House ads do not use third-party tracking cookies. Google AdSense may set advertising cookies to serve personalized ads. We use Google Consent Mode v2 and a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) to manage advertising consent in compliance with GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive. The only way to remove ads entirely is by subscribing to Pro (€9.95/month) — Pro users see no ads at all and the ad script is never loaded.

Consent Management

When you first visit FlickClaw, a cookie consent banner presents four categories with individual toggles. Your preferences are stored in flickclaw_consent_v1 in localStorage. You can change your preferences at any time using the Cookie Settings button in the site footer.

We integrate with Google Consent Mode v2 to communicate your consent status to third-party scripts. When you reject analytics or advertising cookies, Google tags are set to "denied" and no data is collected.

Third-Party Cookies

We use the following third-party services that may set cookies:

Managing Cookies

You can control and manage cookies in several ways:

  • Cookie Settings — Use the Cookie Settings button in our footer to adjust your preferences at any time.
  • Browser Settings — Most browsers allow you to block, delete, or manage cookies through their settings. Note that blocking necessary cookies may prevent the website from functioning properly.
  • Do Not Track — If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we respect this preference where technically feasible.

Data Retention

Authentication cookies are session-based and expire when you close your browser or sign out. Persistent preference cookies may remain for up to 1 year. Payment-related cookies follow Stripe's retention policies. Consent preferences stored in localStorage persist until you clear browser data or change your settings.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
